However, this World Cup surprises fans with a departure from tradition; there was no grand opening ceremony this time. The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have devised an innovative ‘Captain’s Day’ event, bringing together the leaders of all the 10 teams. While the absence of a formal opening ceremony was unexpected, the focus remains unwaveringly on the game itself, highlighting the talent, strategy, and determination of the participating teams.
India, in its role as the host, kicks off its campaign against Australia at the historic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Sunday, October 8, with the match scheduled to commence at 2 pm.
