Young Shivansh Mehendru loves to read and write. But recently the class 8 student from Apeejay School, Faridabad Sector-15 has taken his passion to the next level. He has published his book Blazing Brothers published by Bribooks publication and is already working on his next venture. In a special achievers interview, the young writer walks us through his book and its publishing process. Read edited excerpts

We are excited to know about your book Blazing Brothers?

My book is a science fiction work. It’s about 2 brothers who are also best friends by the way, and how their city was attacked by a gang of thieves. Their father dies in the middle of the book, yet despite these sorrows, the brothers bring the thieves to justice.

The idea sounds unique! How did you get this in the first place?

I came to know about Bribooks publishers. They allowed me to write, edit and publish my book for free during the summer break as part of a workshop they had organised. They also provided webinars from renowned authors across the globe, who guided us, a bunch of students, regarding book editing.

Wow! So were you always inclined towards literature?

I was always inclined towards writing.  I have a blog page and I regularly write on it. When my mother told me about the Bribooks opportunity, I was inspired to write my first superhero book. And here it is!

How did your school support you?

It was under the guidance of my teachers, who helped me inculcate the seed of writing from a tender age. My school constantly provided me platforms where I could sharpen my writing skills and they encouraged me for all my achievements throughout the years.

What is the next book?

I am working on a new series of short stories named Adventures of the Blazing-Brothers.

So, which is your favourite book?

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. I usually read science fiction and fantasy, it is my preferred genre.

Last question! Was this story inspired by someone or a product of the imagination?

It was inspired by someone I know very well. Any guesses? It sure was my younger brother! (laughs)
