Apeejay Stya University marked National Space Day with a series of engaging and educational events that highlighted the significance of space exploration. The celebration began with an overview of the day’s significance, presented by Ms. Kajal Shukla from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC).

The day was officially inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vijay Vir Singh, who delivered an inspiring address. He emphasised the pivotal role that space exploration plays in advancing science and technology. Prof. Singh shared insights into the pioneering efforts of Indian space scientists, recounting the early days of India’s space program and the establishment of the nation’s space centers. His speech highlighted the challenges these scientists faced and the significant milestones they achieved, which served as an inspiration to the audience.
The first competition of the day was an Elocution Competition, organised by the School of Legal Studies and coordinated by Dr. Neha Sharma and Ms. Nandini. Students demonstrated their oratory skills by discussing various space-related topics, showcasing their knowledge and passion for the subject.

Following the elocution, a Quiz Competition took place, coordinated by the School of Management Sciences under the leadership of Ms. Neha Thakur and Ms. Shraddha Agarwal. The quiz was a dynamic and competitive session that tested students’ knowledge of space science and exploration, keeping the participants and audience engaged.

The School of Behavioural Sciences, under the coordination of Dr. Nidhi Purohit, organised an Essay Writing Competition. Meanwhile, the School of Design & Visual Arts conducted a Poster Making Competition, coordinated by Dr. Sangeeta Taneja. Both competitions provided students with a platform to express their creativity and knowledge on space-related themes.
The day also featured screenings and documentaries on space, coordinated by Mr. Avijit from the School of Journalism & Mass Communication. These visual presentations offered valuable insights into space exploration and its future prospects, further enriching the participants’ understanding of the subject.

The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean of Students’ Welfare, and Dr. Sonam Raheja, Chief Coordinator, awarded prizes to the winners of the various competitions. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ahirwal, marking the successful conclusion of National Space Day at Apeejay Stya University.

The entire program was expertly coordinated by Dr. Sonam Raheja, Associate Professor from the School of Engineering and Technology, ensuring that the day was both educational and smoothly executed for all participants.
