Young learners of Apeejay School, Noida honour the special bond with their grandparents through a joyful day of memories and togetherness
Recently, Apeejay School, Noida, organised a heartwarming Grandparents’ Day celebration for the young learners of Balvatika I, II and III. Themed Once Upon a Time-A Celebration of Childhood, Memories & Generations, the event celebrated the cherished bond between grandparents and grandchildren while highlighting the values, traditions, stories and memories that connect generations.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The school Principal, Dr Neha Sharma, addressed the gathering and spoke about the invaluable role grandparents play in nurturing young minds and passing on wisdom and traditions. She introduced the Treasure of Stories initiative for the Foundational Stage, encouraging grandmothers to share stories, traditions and cherished childhood memories with their grandchildren. She also invited grandfathers to contribute to skill-based learning activities for Middle School students, sharing their knowledge and experiences as part of the school’s community collaboration initiatives planned for October-November.
The cultural programme added vibrancy to the celebration with a melodious choir presentation, Melodies of Memories, followed by three engaging dance performances: Forever in Our Hearts, Generations of Love, and Nostalgia-A Journey Back in Time. Through music and movement, the young learners beautifully expressed the timeless affection and connection shared across generations.
The celebrations continued with The Great Grandparents’ Challenge, featuring six entertaining activities: Geetmala, Dadi-Nani Ki Kahawatein, Movie Maniac, Tippy Tippy Tap, Pick the Ball and Pedal Balancing. Grandparents participated enthusiastically, filling the venue with laughter, excitement and cheerful energy, while their grandchildren watched and cheered with pride.
The event concluded with the handover of students to their grandparents, followed by refreshments. The celebration became a memorable journey into childhood and nostalgia, honouring the love, wisdom, stories and experiences passed down through generations. Once Upon a Time beautifully reinforced the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren, creating cherished memories for all.
