Evan Rekhi D’souza and his elder sister Sehar D’souza are both nursery students at Apeejay School, Model Town, Jalandhar. Evan was enrolled keeping in mind his sister’s immense progress at the school on all fronts, be it academics, co-curricular, or sports. In a conversation with their mother, Angelina Kaur Rekhi, we learn about the development graph of the siblings and how the school plays a key role in it.
Elaborate on the progress report of your children.
It’s been only three months since Evan is at the school. He is well-adjusted here but he is a very shy boy, who takes a bit of time to open up. But once he gets past that stage he will make friends quickly. Sehar on the other hand is doing well. It was after seeing her progress, that we decided to enroll our younger one here.
What activities does she like at school?
Sehar is great in arts and crafts. She was always great at speaking skills. But in UKG we noticed some shyness in her. However, the school teachers kept calling and asking me why the child was suddenly becoming shy and taking a back seat to participation in activities. We then worked on it, and gradually she improved.
How are the teachers?
They are very cooperative. They give detailed feedback about the child’s progress. They regularly call and update us, address any issue they face with the child, and ask if it is the same at the parent’s end. The entire approach is designed to solve any problem the child is facing. It is solution-oriented teaching. Also, teachers give individual attention to every student.
How is the school infrastructure?
Simply great. The school building is very clean and tidy. They have a toy room for children, a skill lab, then the regular music room, a dance room, and sports facilities. It is excellent.
How is the principal?
Yes. I met the principal ma’am and I must say she is very energetic about the development of the children. We, parents, are often invited to various events at the school and it is great to listen to the principal share her vision towards education with us. We feel happy that our child will grow in such a positive environment.
