Discovering oneself is most crucial. Why? Because it simply makes us understand who we are. If we identify our uniqueness, surely, nothing can come in the way of our success. To help students recognise their true potential, Apeejay School Faridabad held its pre-primary and primary Annual Appreciation Day, themed ‘Anuvartan – The Discovery of Oneself’.
The programme was aimed at celebrating the non-materialistic richness of life. Students came together to learn and treat life as a series of gifts. They also savoured the beauty of the world and resolved to weigh their strengths and capabilities.
Ms Aparajita, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Faridabad-cum-District Citizen Resources Information Officer graced the occasion as the chief guest. Alongside, Ms Shweta Mishra, an empanelled Kathak artist of ICCR and Spic Macay, was the guest of honour. Special guests, school alumni, Dr Sapna Manocha, Radiation Oncologist at Apollo Hospital and Ms Aadya Gupta, Finance Executive and Human Resource professional at HT Process Controls Pvt Ltd were present. Mrs Purnima Vohra, an Education officer at Apeejay Education was also in attendance on the big day.
The event began with the invocation of the supreme power. Soon after, the dignitaries were accorded a green welcome by the school’s Principal Ms Anita Yadav and Headmistress Ms Ritu Kanwar. Further, the school felicitated its student achievers through a prize distribution ceremony to celebrate their stupendous feats.
Students showcased brilliant performances through dances, songs and enactment inspired by the novel ‘The Ultimate Gift’ by author Jim Stovall. During the event, Ms Kanwar read out the annual report of the school highlighting its scholastic and co-scholastic achievements.
“Prior to this annual celebration, the school organised a host of events. However, this one was special. It was large-scale and was attended by 450 people. Children had a great exposure as post Covid-19, it was necessary for them to participate in events, be out there and experience new things. The programme was able to develop their socio-emotional connection with the real world and parents were equally excited to see their wards. I felt that we could build a sense of belongingness amongst each other,” said Ms Kanwar.
When asked about the selection of the theme, she added, “Parents and children are often caught up in the rigmarole of attending school, doing homework, submitting assignments etc. And so, they tend to forget the purpose behind this and where we are heading to achieve through these seemingly small activities. We felt that they must remember the goal and what route will take them to it.”
Apeejay Education believes in imparting holistic, value-based learning leading to man-making and nation-building. To prepare the students for it, Apeejay School, Faridabad attempted to make children learn important lessons through the programme. In addition to this, Dr Manocha urged the students to follow the right path.
The show was a musical extravaganza aimed at understanding the process of self-realisation. With many theatrical acts, dialogues and enactment, students stood tall on the final day.
Speaking about the event, Ms Gupta shared, “I returned to my school after more than 12 years. The experience was simply surreal. I was happy to be part of the event and what stood out for me was how the school prepared the storyline of the programme. It encapsulated core values and lessons, both crucial and comprehensive. My message for kids is to cherish the years in the school. These experiences will shape your tomorrow in a big way.”
The day concluded with the grand finale and vote of thanks. The school’s staff, teachers and students explored their skills and pushed their boundaries to put up the great show.
“The students put up an amazing show! Everyone in the audience was overwhelmed to see them perform the important life lessons. They took home the realisation that the only way one can truly get more out of life is to give away a part of oneself.”
