This school commemorates the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas

Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed on July 26 each year, commemorates the victory of Indian forces in the Kargil War against Pakistan in 1999. This significant day holds deep national pride and honour, marking the courage and sacrifices made by soldiers in defending the nation. 

Celebrating this day serves as a tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Various schools organise events to honour these heroes, such as ceremonies, discussions, and activities that highlight their contributions. To recognising soldier’s sacrifices, Apeejay Schools are never left behind. 

To commemorate the 25th Kargil Victory Day, Apeejay School, Noida’s Interact Club organised a special programme on July 26, 2024, in the auditorium, paying heartfelt tribute to the Indian Army martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Kargil War. The event aimed to honour these courageous heroes and inspire students with a spirit of patriotism and noble values.   

The Chief Guests, Colonel VN Thapar, and Mrs Tripta Thapar, parents of the martyr Captain Vijyant Thapar, were warmly welcomed by Ms Ritu Kohli, the Principal of the School. Captain Vijyant Thapar, posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra for his bravery, was a focal point of the day. 

The programme began with a devotional group dance that evoked harmony and reverence. This was followed by a motivational speech by Ms Rakshita Mishra, which aimed to ignite national pride among students. Yesha Singh’s thought-provoking poem created a reflective atmosphere, while an action song by the young children captivated the audience. A video presentation highlighted the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, emphasising the cost of victory and India’s triumph over Pakistan.  

Colonel Thapar shared fascinating insights into the Kargil War, underscoring the bravery of the Armed Forces. He presented his book, Vijyant at Kargil: The Biography of a War Hero, to the school library in memory of his son. Mrs Thapar recounted her son’s challenging journey and shared personal anecdotes. 

Ms Kohli praised the Interact Club’s efforts, acknowledging the profound contribution of the Army. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Charukeshi, Director of the Interact Club, expressing gratitude for the esteemed guests’ presence.

Overall, the event evoked an ignited sense of patriotism amongst all, educating students about historical events to honouring sacrifices made while promoting unit
