The ‘Team Worthy Minds’ from Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) created a short-film — Undoped — that depicts the consequences of drug addiction

The four-minute 22-second film deals with a 20 year-old boy who is addicted to drugs. The story revolves around the problems he had to face due to this addiction. The filmmakers have also tried to show different symptoms of a drug addict. There are times when individuals are unable to recognise the signs of addiction and at the same time, face the consequences. The movie ends with the protagonist commiting suicide because he felt helpless.

Anushka Vats, Assistant Director of the film and student of AIMC mentioned that she and her team wanted to make people aware of the gravity of the problem and the aim was that everyone must  recognise these symptoms and also help someone dealing with addiction before it’s too late.

Anushka further added, “Making this movie was all about the team’s efforts. We faced problems finding the location. Showing everything real, like when the boy jumps from the building was a tough task to do. We had to shoot a few scenes differently as planned because when it came on screen it was not what we expected. Our professors were so supportive, they guided us so much with the shots and camera angles. Overall, it was a wonderful learning experience.”

The show cast  included Arpan Mondal, Aman K Singh and Karuna Sanjay Gunwal.

Director of the film, Shantanu Oberoi said, “The frames were made keeping in mind the seriousness of the issue, state of mind of the addict and the rules obviously. Some were hand held to show the uneasiness, some were low-angle closeups to show the emphasis on the face, some were to show the whole room of a drug addict and his scattered things. The main aim was to create an impact with the visuals and convey our idea since it was a silent movie.”

Shradha Tiwari, Co Assistant Director said, “We took one week to shoot the movie and one week to complete all the post production work.”

The production crew members also included Bhavna Sindhwani, Rittick Mandal, Mansi Rai, Sheen Kachroo, Aman Singh, Saatvik Arora, Lakshit Mehndiratta, Eshu Chaudhary and Trisha Saha.
