School years are often called the most formative phase of life, and for Dr. Samita Wadhwa, they truly became the foundation of her professional journey. Having joined Apeejay School, Faridabad right from Kindergarten, she spent 14 years under the guidance of teachers who instilled discipline, resilience, and the drive to excel. From being a passionate basketball player who represented her school at district tournaments to a focused science student preparing for the pre-medical entrance test (PMT), Samita’s journey was one of balance, hard work, and encouragement.
Today, as a successful gynaecologist, she looks back at those memories with deep gratitude and pride, crediting her alma mater for shaping her mindset, values, and career path.
Read edited excerpts:
You spent your entire schooling at Apeejay School, Faridabad. What made those years special?
I joined Apeejay right from Kindergarten and studied there till Class 12. The reason I never thought of shifting was simple – the environment was supportive, the teachers genuinely cared, and the exposure was incredible. I chose PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in my senior years, which built the foundation for my medical career.
What stands out as your fondest memory from school?
There are countless memories, but one moment I often recall is from Class 12. It was a crucial year – boards and competitive exams were approaching. At the same time, our basketball team had the district tournament. Our sports teacher encouraged us to balance both. We played, and our team became district champions that year.
How did Apeejay School, Faridabad prepare you for the rigour of medical studies?
Time management and discipline were deeply ingrained at school. The way our teachers prepared us, the structure of exams, and the constant emphasis on hard work gave me direction. Those values carried me through PMT, MBBS, post-graduation, and even today, in my practice as a gynaecologist.
Looking back, what values from Apeejay School, Faridabad still stay with you?
Hard work, resilience, and positivity. Our teachers always led by example. They put in immense effort for us, and that expectation pushed us to give our best. Even now, when I face long working hours or stressful situations, I go back to that training.
Finally, how do you feel when you revisit your Apeejay School, Faridabad journey?
Nostalgic, always. Apeejay School, Faridabad was where I grew up, where I learnt, where I played, and where I shaped my dreams. The bonds with teachers, the encouragement, and the values I received still guide me today. Whatever I am reaping in my professional life is because the basics were so strong at school.
