Lalita Chuphal is an alumnus from Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram.  She pursued a Masters in Animation and Multimedia, a two-year course, after which she started her own animation company in the capital. In an informal chat, she tells us about her career trajectory, knowledge gained at ASU and more. Read edited excerpts:

What was your objective behind doing this course?

I run a company dealing in animation and multimedia work. So to hone my skills further I did this course and it helped me gain so much knowledge on the domain. It helped me greatly.

How was the time at ASU?

It was great but was mostly online due to the pandemic. Then I had a few offline classes towards the end of the course. But it was a success overall.

How were the faculty members at Apeejay?

All good! They guided us so well and gave their best even in the online medium.  I would like to thank them all, especially Dibyendu sir. He was a gem of a teacher.

What about your friends during the course?

Due to this being a Masters niche course, there were very few students in the batch. Then we had online classes and I kept quite busy due to my company. So, I had less time to socialise but I made a very good friend, Debanik. He was a graphics student and is a friend even now.

Tell us about your present work?

I am running my studio in Delhi. I design animation series as part of the entertainment industry. It’s a lot of work but interesting and fun.

So, how did the ASU experience guide you professionally?

I was in the animation industry already, so I had practical knowledge but I did not have theory knowledge, knew less about the softwares and once I learned this, I picked up on a lot of pace in my work.
