Reason and responsibility: Students learn leadership at Apeejay, Rama Mandi

Inspired to take challenges head-on, a new student council was elected by Apeejay School, Rama Mandi recently. The programme commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty and the group’s Founder Chairman Dr. Stya Paul. The auspicious lamp lighting was followed by a graceful Saraswati Vandana performance by Javneet Kaur Singh of class 10.

Mr. Girish Kumar, Principal, Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Chahat, a student of class 11 mesmerised the audience with a soulful rendition of a patriotic song at the solemn occasion.

Students were shortly invested with the duties as office bearers, as the day was imbued with a sense of pride, humility and leadership. Mr. Kumar and Principal Ms. Sangeeta Nistandra pinned the badges, blessing the student members of the council. The oath was administered by the Principal, who in her address added that the student council body represents the values of righteousness, responsibility, integrity and leadership at the school. She remarked how the office body is a rare combination of valour, humility, and competence.

Class 12 student Ranjit Gorges was appointed as Head Boy and Eshwarjot Kaur Mattu was appointed as Head Girl of the school. Both pledged to keep the school flag flying high. Gurnoor Singh of class 12 was appointed the Sports Captain (Boys) and Purvi of class 12 was appointed as Sports Captain (Girls). The students promised to take the school to great heights in the field of Sports.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Girish Kumar, further congratulated the students and wished them good luck. He urged them to take up their responsibility with commitment and integrity. Ms. Aarti Shorey Bhat, Vice – Principal of the school, concluded the event by proposed the Vote of Thanks. The ceremony culminated with the audience’s National Anthem.
