Education paired with leadership prepares young minds for future challenges. Furthering the words of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru: “The future of the nation is developed in the classrooms,” Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, infused a sense of responsibility in student leaders with its virtual Investiture Ceremony. The Prefectorial Board for Senior, Middle and the Primary Wing was elected on August 24, signifying the confidence bestowed by the school in its student office-bearers.
The event was graced by Chief Guest, Dr. Ankita Chakravarty, IAS, District Magistrate (South), Government of NCT, Delhi. She addressed the student council by encouraging them to perform their duties selflessly. In her speech, she mentioned, “The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things, but one who gets people to do the greatest things.”
Guest of Honour, Mr. Aditya Berlia, Co-Promotor, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group and Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, congratulated the students and faculty for commemorating a thoughtful event. In his address, he emphasised upon the importance of reading for students to build an overall personality. He further highlighted how discipline, courtesy and forthrightness are important values to follow in life, and motivated the students to contribute to society by actively engaging with the underprivileged and differently-abled.
At the event, every new appointee was introduced on-screen to the dignitaries present. Donning the mantle of accountability, the newly appointed student office-bearers pledged to take charge of their duties and deliver them to the best of their abilities. The former Head Boy, (Senior) Ansh Ahuja and Head Girl (Senior), Dolly Malhotra, spoke about their experiences and learnings, mentioning how balance between a leader and friend is a necessary virtue for a council member.
Head Boy, (Senior) Aryaman Jaiman and Head Girl, (Senior) Gauri Sharma took office as the newly elected council members. Head Boy, (Middle) Abbas Hasnain, Head Girl, (Middle) Sarah Rahman along with Head Boy (Primary) Swarnim Prabhat and Head Girl (Primary) Eshana Pahwa also took charge of their duties. Keeping virtual learning and collaboration at the center of their speech, the students discussed their plans on how to help their classmates and the school in the swift operation of online learning.
Principal, Ms. Ritu Mehta, congratulated the students and their parents, advising the Prefectorial board to create an amicable and collaborative atmosphere for every student at school. She said, “As a leader one must find a solution to problems and venture into avenues to help everyone.” She advised students to follow the footsteps of the Group’s Founder-Chairman, Dr. Stya Paul and his daughter Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education Society and Co-Promoter and President, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, for their qualities of compassion, patience and determination embedded in human values.
The event concluded with parents appreciating the commendable show of unity and creativity manifested by the school.
