‘I am an Apeejay alumnus, so there’s no question of enrolling my child in any other school’

Nareen Malik runs a leather business while his spouse Jyotsna Malik is a homemaker. Their 8-year-old bright daughter, Suhana, did her preschooling from Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld before she was enrolled in Nursery in Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park. In an informal chat, Nareen Malik explains why he thinks Apeejay is the best school in Delhi and sheds light on the rapid progress made by her daughter since joining the school. Edited excerpts:

What made you pick Apeejay?

I am an alumnus of Apeejay, Panchsheel Park and I can proudly state that it’s the best school in the national capital. Due to the quality education and values I got from Apeejay, I am well-settled in life. The faculty is excellent and don’t hesitate to put in the hard yards if a student is finding it difficult to learn something. The infrastructure is fantastic and the school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for the holistic development of students. Hence, there’s no question of enrolling my child in any other school.

What’s the progress you have seen in Suhana since she joined the school?

I have noticed tremendous progress in all aspects of her personality. She is strong academically and actively participates in almost every extracurricular activity such as Rakhi, Dance and Yoga competitions. On Teacher’s Day, Suhana gave a profound speech dressed as Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairperson, Apeejay Education Society and Chancellor Apeejay Stya University. Recently, the school organised a function in which students have to talk about personalities who inspire them. Suhana picked Kalpana Chawla, former Indian-American astronaut, as her inspiration and gave a speech on why she is fascinated with the first Indian woman in space. Events such as these expand the horizon of students and introduce them to fresh ideas and thoughts, thereby promoting holistic development. I would also like to point out that Suhana’s pronunciation skills have improved drastically since joining Apeejay and she can now speak confidently in front of others.

Tell us more about the teachers. Have they met your expectations?

Despite the closure of school, the teachers have ensured that learning doesn’t take a back seat. If any student is facing trouble understanding a topic or a concept the teachers spend extra time and effort so that the child doesn’t face any learning loss. Teachers have diligently checked every homework and assignment and given valuable feedback to students.  This has kept the children on their toes. In fact, I would say that all the teachers and staff of Apeejay are among the best in the world.

How has been your equation with the teachers?

Parents share excellent rapport with teachers. The faculty has categorically told us to get in touch with them when faced with any query or doubt. It’s really important for the growth of students that parents and teachers are on the same page and share cordial relations.

Share with us your most memorable moment.

I have so many of them. It’s difficult to pick one. Every time your child does well in a contest or competition you feel proud and Suhana has done well in so many of them. I also cherish her time with Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld where she participated in all kinds of interesting activities, including  fancy dress competitions. She also learned a lot of valuable lessons there.
