Bulls-eye Brilliance: Apeejay’s Anvi Rathod clinches medals in Kerala

There are individuals who embody dedication, discipline, and sheer determination. One such shining star is Anvi Rathod, an exceptional shooter who recently made a mark with her notable achievement in a prestigious competition held in Kerala. With many honours to her name, Anvi’s extensive practice hours and unwavering hard work have placed her among the elite in her chosen field. A class 10 student of Apeejay School, Kharghar in Navi Mumbai, she bagged two gold medals in Youth and Sub-Youth categories at the 21st KSS Memorial shooting Championship 2023 (Rifle), which was conducted in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala recently. The Path to Success

Anvi’s journey to success is a testament to her unwavering passion for shooting. About two years ago, she displayed an innate talent and fascination for the sport while accompanying her brother to a shooting range in Panvel, Mumbai. At that time, she decided to give the sport a try, and little did she know that she would soon fall in love with shooting.

Fuelled by an unyielding desire to excel, Anvi then embarked on her quest for greatness, armed with an unrelenting work ethic. Currently, she is being trained by the Olympic athlete, Suma Shirur. In addition to this, she has a dedicated team of experts such as coaches, nutritionist, psychologist and physiotherapist to make her shine.

Dedication and Practice Hours

Behind Anvi’s extraordinary accomplishments also lies a story of countless hours spent honing her craft. Her dedication to her sport is unparalleled, as she consistently pushes herself to the limits of her abilities. Waking up early, she immerses herself in rigorous training sessions, fine-tuning her shooting technique and mastering the intricacies of the air rifle. From gruelling physical workouts to intense mental preparation, Anvi’s commitment knows no bounds. “I am preparing to participate in the 2026 Summer Youth Olympics as well as 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles,” says Anvi.

Hard Work and Perseverance

Anvi’s success didn’t come overnight. It was the product of countless sacrifices and unwavering perseverance. “I work on my core strength and limit screen time to keep my eyes relaxed. Good sleep is also a necessary accompaniment for the sport,” she says. Besides, she spends a minimum of 4 hours a day in the shooting range.

She faced numerous challenges and setbacks along the way, but she never allowed them to deter her from her goals. Instead, she used these hurdles as stepping stones towards personal growth, continuously refining her skills and overcoming obstacles with unwavering determination.

The Competitive Edge

In the recent competition that captivated many, Anvi proved herself to be a force to be reckoned with. Her precise aim, calm composure, and unwavering focus set her apart from the competition. Spectators were enthralled by her unwavering precision and the ease with which she effortlessly hit her targets, time and time again. “To shoot a perfect 10 for 60 shots requires consistency and patience. That’s what is needed to ace this sport,” says the fifteen year old. She also credits her school teachers for her achievement since she recognised her love for sports through karate and handball competitions held in the institution.

A Role Model for Aspiring Athletes

Serving as an inspiration to aspiring athletes, her journey is a reminder that success is not only about talent but also about the relentless pursuit of one’s dreams. Anvi looks up to players like Suma Shirur and Abhinav Bindra. In the future, she hopes to imbibe their spirit of not giving up. For those wanting to start at the sport, the young player advises, “Be patient and follow the journey. Don’t skip any routine.”
