Halloween is a cultural holiday that originated from ancient Celtic traditions, particularly the festival of Samhain. It is celebrated on the night of October 31 in various parts of the world, primarily in western countries. The holiday has evolved over time and now includes activities like dressing up in costumes, trick-or-treating (going door-to-door for candy), and engaging in festive decorations and events.
In India, Halloween is not traditionally a part of the culture. However, it has gained some popularity in recent years, particularly in urban areas influenced by the West. Schools, especially those that follow international curricula or have a diverse student population and often choose to recognise Halloween.
Is it beneficial? This could involve encouraging children to dress up in non-scary costumes like fairies, superheroes, or cultural figures. It may also include activities like arts and crafts, storytelling, or other festivities. It’s important for schools to approach Halloween celebrations in a way that is respectful of the cultural context.
On a crisp autumn day, students gathered in Rhythms Kinderworld School, Greater Kailash-II, Delhi to celebrate Halloween in a spirit of creativity and positivity. The school left no room for dull moments. The venue itself was a visual spectacle, adorned with twinkling lights and whimsical decorations that transported everyone into a world of fantasy. It was a space where dreams and imagination ran wild, and where the boundaries between reality and enchantment blurred.

Eerie Storytelling Sessions:
With bated breath and wide-eyed wonder, young learners were transported into a world of enchanting Halloween tales. Using vibrant puppets as their companions, our narrators breathed life into classics like “Pumpkin Pumpkin Everywhere” and “Room on the Broom”. The storytelling sessions were nothing short of magical. Laughter and chatter filled the air, creating a lively atmosphere that was both heartwarming and inviting.
Haunted Harmonies:
Rhythms echoed with the beats of Halloween as the children swayed and grooved to the spine-chilling melodies of the musical extravaganza. “Spooky Spooky” and other ghoulish favourites set the stage for an afternoon of rhythm and rhyme. The musical activities added an element of exhilaration to the celebration.
Science Spells and Potions:
In pursuit of holistic education, the school conjured hands-on science activities that left little scientists spellbound. The “Ghost Experiment,” which employed the mysterious combination of baking soda and vinegar, had the children captivated as they unravel the secrets of chemical reactions in a playful and eerie manner.

Marvelous Costume Parade:
The pièce de résistance of the day was the costume parade, where little ones paraded around in an array of spectacular Halloween attire. From pirates to Captain America and even a dash of Superman, the creativity and enthusiasm displayed by the children were nothing short of commendable.
The Halloween celebration was a triumph of festive engagement and learning. It provided an exceptional platform for students to not only expand their horizons but also forge deeper bonds within the community. The day was a testament to the power of learning through joy, and it left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who attended.
