One of the key survival skills needed for a person irrespective of gender today is cooking. Cooking is not only a survival skill, it is also an art as well as helps one reconnect with the inner artist.

Khansamas and chefs throughout history have been recognised for their patented culinary delights. In order to teach students about the wonders of cooking as well as honouring the best chef in the world: a mother, the school organised a fun activity that achieved this dual purpose.

The pre-primary wing of Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar recently held an exciting and engaging ‘Lil Chef’ activity. This event was designed to involve young students and their mothers in a culinary adventure, fostering creativity, teamwork, and an appreciation for food.

Students, accompanied by their enthusiastic mothers heartily participated in the activity. The event witnessed a large turnout, showcasing the strong involvement of parents in their children’s learning experiences.

The little chefs along with their mothers worked collaboratively to prepare a delightful array of dishes. They crafted healthy salads, delectable sandwiches, mouthwatering sweet treats, and even ventured into making golgappas demonstrating their culinary creativity.

This initiative allowed students to learn essential life skills while playing and exploring. Assisting their mothers, students learned to recognise cooking as a skill that goes beyond any gender divide. They also learnt how simple small steps can lead to a greater end result.

Speaking about this activity, Ms Sangeeta Nistandra, Principal of the school, mentioned, “We, at the school, give our best to make education an enjoyable process for all. It was delightful to see mothers create such culinary delicacies along with their kids as a team. The kids took away many key lessons from this activity which taught them the importance of cooking.”
