Books, poetry and young authors take centre stage
Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, students celebrate the joy of reading to mark World Book Day
Books took centre stage at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, as students came together to mark World Book Day through a series of literary activities. Held under the guidance of Class VII in-charge Mr Bijender, the celebration focused on encouraging reading, creativity, and confident expression among young learners.
The programme began with a special morning assembly presented by students. Through speeches and poetry recitations, they spoke about the role books play in building knowledge and widening imagination.
The assembly also included engaging quiz rounds that tested students’ literary awareness. A melodious song on the joy of reading added warmth to the programme and helped create an energetic atmosphere.
Young readers and authors recognised
One of the most meaningful moments of the celebration was the recognition of young authors from the school whose books have already been published. Their achievement showed students that age need not limit creativity or ambition.
Bhishm of Class VI was also honoured for his consistent reading habits and deep interest in books. Known as a voracious reader, his recognition highlighted the value of making reading a regular part of life.
Students from different classes participated in poem presentations, speeches, and quizzes. Their enthusiasm and confidence reflected the school’s effort to give children opportunities beyond the classroom and help them grow into well-rounded individuals.
The celebration was attended by the school Principal, Dr Vineet Vasishtha. He appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers who worked together to make the programme meaningful.
He encouraged students to develop a habit of reading books regularly to enhance knowledge, imagination, and language skills. He emphasised that books are our best companions and guide us towards success. He also motivated students to explore different genres and make reading a joyful and lifelong practice.
The event left students with a simple but lasting message. Books are not only sources of information. They also help readers imagine, question, and understand the world in new ways. By celebrating young authors, regular readers, and active participants, the school encouraged students to build a lifelong relationship with reading.
