The campus of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, came alive with colour, creativity, and festive cheer as the NSS Wing, Department of Design, and Department of Fashion Makeover jointly organised a spectacular Diwali Mela. The event seamlessly blended tradition with innovation, providing students a platform to showcase their artistic flair while engaging with the community.
Stalls That Celebrate Talent and Entrepreneurship
The Mela featured 35 creatively curated stalls spanning home décor, nail art, mehndi, accessories, food, and soft drinks. Each stall was a testament to the students’ imagination, entrepreneurial spirit, and meticulous effort, turning the campus into a lively hub of celebration and learning. Beyond festivity, the Mela served as a practical extension of the college’s ‘Earn while Learn’ scheme, allowing students to translate classroom knowledge into real-world skills, a cornerstone of experiential education.

Chief Guest and Guest of Honour Praise Students’ Creativity
The event was graced by Ms. Jyoti Bala Mattu PCS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Hoshiarpur, as the Chief Guest, with Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director, Apeejay Education, present as Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Mattu lauded the students for their creativity and the institution for nurturing such a dynamic learning environment. Recalling her own college days, she expressed delight at witnessing such spirited participation and praised the management for fostering an atmosphere that encourages artistic expression.
Dr. Sharma extended warm Diwali wishes to all attendees, highlighting that the festival embodies light, positivity, and creativity — qualities reflected in the students’ artistic endeavours. Her words resonated with the essence of the Mela, which celebrated not just the festival but also the joy of learning through engagement and innovation.

Mentors and Students Behind the Success
Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal of the college, commended the students’ dedication and talent, emphasising how mentors at Apeejay continually encourage imaginative thinking and help students explore beyond conventional boundaries. She also recognised the efforts of Dr. Simkee, Dean of the NSS Wing, Ms. Rajni Kumar from the Department of Interiors, and Ms. Meenal Sandhu from the Department of Fashion Makeover, whose meticulous planning ensured the event’s seamless execution.
A Celebration That Blends Learning with Festive Joy
The Diwali Mela at Apeejay College of Fine Arts was more than a celebration; it was a vibrant demonstration of the college’s commitment to holistic learning. By integrating creativity, entrepreneurship, and festive joy, the event provided students with an invaluable opportunity to experiment, interact, and grow — embodying the institution’s ethos of learning through experience, innovation, and community engagement.
