Google launches ‘Search Live’ in India

Google is expanding its AI capabilities in India with the launch of Search Live, a mobile-first feature designed to provide users with real-time, context-aware assistance. India becomes the second country, after the US, to receive this feature, following the company’s recent introduction of Hindi language support in its AI Mode earlier this month.

Search Live allows users to interact with Google’s Gemini AI directly through voice queries and camera inputs. By enabling the camera, users can provide visual context to their questions, allowing the AI to deliver more precise and actionable guidance. For instance, a user can point their camera at a room and ask for advice on how to start cleaning, or show multiple outfits to determine the best choice for an event. The AI can then take into account additional details, such as the type of occasion or attendees, to offer tailored suggestions.

Google’s advanced speech and conversational AI technology. It enables the AI to hold long, meaningful conversations with users, performing multiple tasks efficiently while reducing the time required for decision-making.

Google reports that over 100 million users in the US and India now regularly use AI Mode in the Search app for tasks such as education queries, recommendations, comparisons, writing assistance, and step-by-step instructions. With the introduction of Search Live, the company aims to enhance these experiences further, making interactions with the AI more intuitive, practical, and visually informed.

By integrating advanced AI capabilities with real-time visual and voice inputs, Google’s Search Live promises to transform the way users interact with information on mobile devices, offering faster, smarter, and more personalised search experiences across India.
