Pulsating with the feeling of patriotism, Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, resplendently transformed into a venue with kaleidoscopic celebrations on India’s 78th Independence Day. Under the dynamic leadership of Principal Mr AK Sharma, the school community blended in perfect rhythm, evoking the richness of Indian heritage and the indomitable spirit of the freedom fighters who fought tooth and nail for the country’s independence.
The special assembly, performed by classes VIII and IX, aroused feelings and reminded the audience of all the sacrifices our national heroes made so that today we could breathe the air of freedom. Sensitivities were brought to life as the students presented their performances in a series of presentations that included sensitive speeches, touching poems, and an enchanting drama of the struggles and victories in their journey to independence. The school courtyard echoed with their harmonious strains of Hind Desh Ke Niwasi Sabhi Jan Ek Hain reiterating the message of unity and brotherhood.

Engaging Competitions Stirring Patriotic Fervor
The celebration was made vibrant with the inclusion of various competitions that were tailored to ignite an empathetic patriotic chord in the nursery students to class IX. The little ones participated in the previous activity of drawing and colouring the Tricolor. Others made badges, headdresses, and bookmarks, each attachment to the tingles and emblems of the national colours and logos of India. Presentation of the work wasn’t so much of a competition but homage to the Motherland.

The highlight of the programme was the very special role-play competition where students of nursery to UKG were attired as different freedom fighters and prominent Indian personalities with the theme Unity in Diversity. The whole school setting was abuzz with excitement during the solo dance and songs of the competitors, who flaunted their talent on the theme no less than the waving and fluttering of the Tricolours, beautifully sketched.
The Principal in his keynote address, went on to stress the need for insistent commitment toward the continued growth and unity of the nation. His words had the fragrance of the wisdom of India’s past and the potential of its future as he outlined that students were to dedicate selfless service and follow the values taught by the stalwarts of the country.

It was an emotional moment for the school to see the hoisting of the ceremonial flag, with the Principal hoisting it in one go, along with Vice-principal Mrs Aarti Shorey Bhat, all the teachers, and students. And as the celebrations came to an end, the spirit of Independence Day resounded in each heart.
This great day at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi, was celebrated by remembering the independence of India, not just to be a date for the celebration by them but also to instil in them the feelings of rights and duties towards the country.
