Zeeshan Ahmad, an alumnus of Apeejay Institute of Technology – School of Architecture & Planning (AIT-SAP), is truly hustling to make his dreams come alive. From managing his own firm to completing his other professional commitments in the weekdays, his is a busy life. In a quick chat, we learn about this Apeejay alumnus’ passion for architecture and how this profession came naturally to him. Read edited excerpts:
Tell us a bit about a regular work day?
I usually have a very busy day. I work 5 days at TNT architecture firm and handle consultancy at Upal Ghosh Associates. Then, I travel every weekend to my hometown in Firozabad to work at my venture Zedline architecture.
Productively busy indeed! How did your interest in architecture arise?
My grandfather was a building contractor, same with two uncles of mine. So, as one can guess, I come from a civil background. Architecture runs in my blood. I grew up in this environment and discussions. This came naturally to me.
How were the AIT-SAP days?
Because I came from a civil background, I already felt a step ahead in many of the concepts at college. But I learnt many practical things, be it design or anything else at the college. I had a great time learning design to be precise. This was something new, which I had no clue about previously. Also, the visiting faculties came from top architecture firms. They taught us from their field experience.
One key skill to become an architect?
Grasping things around you. Be it a building construction or architecture designs around, you must have the eye to observe and the thinking to imagine far and wide.
Finally, one life lesson to an architecture student?
Explore as much as you can. Go for the college tours, they teach many key field concepts there. It is very crucial!
