Internships are crucial for job seekers as it gives them a peek into the corporate world while equipping them with essential professional skills. A student of Apeejay School of Management (ASM) Saheen Parween, who wishes to make it big in the field of financial analytics, is similarly interning at a Gurugram-based company. She is pursuing her post-graduate diploma in management (PGDM) at ASM, with a specialisation in Finance & Data Analytics. The student tells us more about her experience of studying at ASM in an interview.

Tell us about your internship. How would you describe the experience?
I am doing my internship at DefinEquity Pvt Ltd; my job involves equity research analysis. It has been a wonderful and informative internship in equity research. I have had the exceptional chance to develop my practical knowledge and abilities in finance and investment research, thanks to this internship.

Why did you choose Apeejay School of Management? What’s your specialisation?
The decision to study at ASM was motivated by several compelling factors that complemented my academic and professional goals. The emphasis on practical experience and industry contacts in the school was an essential appeal. Because of the institute’s wide variety of corporate connections, students get to interact with leading corporations and receive real-world expertise through internships and tasks.
Which profession are you aiming for?
I want to pursue a career in Financial Analytics.
What new skills did you learn at Apeejay and how did it shape your personality?
The well-rounded curriculum at ASM helped improve my personality immensely. I learnt presentation and communication skills, time management, and organisational skills. I also learnt how to be flexible and adaptable, which are essential in the corporate world.
How did your college make you industry ready?
ASM encourages students to participate in projects or research activities that are pertinent to the industry. Students develop problem-solving abilities, and gain experience by working in interdisciplinary teams. This, in turn, teaches them to address issues or challenges that businesses might confront in the real world. I am thankful to ASM for providing students with hands-on exposure through various workshops, industry-oriented sessions, and extracurricular activities.
