The new academic year means new trials. Students have yet another chance to improve their scores and work towards their goals. For those who aced the previous year, it will be a test of consistency. Others who may have been caught up in a rigmarole have the opportunity to try new things and push their boundaries. But the upside is that at every step, students will be guided by their beloved educators.
Apeejay Svran Global School in Faridabad Sector 21-D recently welcomed all its students to the new session of 2023-24. Exuberant and ecstatic to enter their classrooms, young learners were welcomed to the premises with broad smiles, ‘roli’ and ‘tika’. Following this, they were accompanied by their class teachers to the school’s assembly ground.
Shortly, the formal ceremony commenced with a floral tribute to the late Founder-Chairman of Apeejay Education Dr Stya Paul and his wife late Smt Rajeshwari Paul. Followed by this, students chanted prayers to seek blessings of the Almighty. They took the school oath and promised that they will continue to make efforts to attain a good overall mark.
After this, the Principal of the school, Ms Priti Wason, congratulated all the students on being successfully promoted to the upper grades. She also advised them to be regular and punctual in the school. To motivate them further, she shared a poem titled, ‘New Beginnings’ by Helen Steiner Rice. It was about taking a chance to start anew.
Ms Raisa Kandhari, an English teacher who attended the ceremony, says, “Principal Ma’am related how every child enters school in a nascent stage but with sheer efforts, love, care and affection, the child becomes a well-rounded individual. Her inspiring words resonated with all the students.”
She continued, “As far as my subject is concerned, I plan to encourage students through interactive activities and inter-school competitions. This year, as part of the school, I will forge educational collaborations with experts and organisations too.”
According to Ms Manali Pahwa, an Economics teacher who teaches classes 11 and 12, “The upcoming year is crucial for all the students. To make a mark, the first and foremost is discipline. Without it, one cannot achieve success. Further, to help students learn well in the classes, I am making them understand the concepts with the help of real-life examples. Surely, they will be able to remember their lessons better with it. The Board pattern evolves each year and this year is no different. What I can do is to encourage our students to inculcate good practices.” She also advises, “ Starting to learn your lessons early on is key. Students must not stress and remember to stay focused.”
Mr Raman, an Accountancy and Business Studies educator in the school suggests students must learn from day 1 and not postpone tasks for the 11th hour. Discussing the change in CBSE Board exam pattern he says, “The exam will appear challenging for those who are not preparing according to the CBSE sample papers. The Board has already shared that competency-based, practical and experiential knowledge, is what they are looking for. Those who know the concepts can do well, only if they learn to translate them on paper,” he says.
Sharing his experience on the special assembly, he further shared that students are extremely energetic for this session. “I am doing my best to support their endeavours.”
Towards the end of the day, all the students wore broad smiles that depicted their motivation to begin the new session.
