Getting a taste of advertising agency via an insightful campus induction

During the programme, the expert gives introduction about the company, their clients and work culture to the aspirants

The students of Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) actively participated in a campus induction conducted by the Wunderman Thompson (WT), a leading advertising agency and a part of Wire and Plastic Products.

Ms. Jyoti Mahendru, Chief People Officer at WT, and Mr. Birendra, Associate Vice President, HR Department at WT, were the resource persons for the programme. The idea to hold this interaction was to provide students with an understanding about their “Young Guns” training programme.

During the event, Ms. Jyoti gave an introduction about Wunderman Thompson, their clients and work culture. She showcased the pictures of how they celebrate and enjoy festivals and believe in offering a good working environment to its employees. She mentioned, “We celebrate men’s day and not just women’s day,” while sharing about their work policy of ‘non-tolerance of bullying and harassment.’

Further, she shared her journey of 30 years in the advertising industry.

She also encouraged the students to give a few years to their company for industry learning. While encouraging the students, she said, “We are grateful for the time and effort that was invested in telling you about how the advertising company works. We are confident that the skills and knowledge you have acquired will serve you well in your future.”

Dr. Pijush Dutta, Professor and Program Director at Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC), Dwarka expressed, “We got the chance to interact with professionals from the world’s best creative agency. It was an experience that students always wait for. Mrs. Jyoti Mahendru, talked not only about the working environment at the agency, but also taught the valuable life lessons on building a career. Through this campus induction by Wunderman Thompson Younguns training, we have given the students an opportunity to get into the number 1 advertising agency to prove themselves.”

Sharing her experience, a student of AIMC Arushi Tomar expressed, “To win in a marketplace, you must first win in your struggling days, give all your blood, sweat and tears to the first 5 years of your career. This struggle will for sure pay off. The campus induction was a great learning experience from the CPO of Wunderman Thompson, Mrs. Jyoti Mahendru.”                                                         

Another student, Lakshita kandpal from CCEM batch said, “The interaction with Wunderman Thompson helped me gain an industrial perspective of how creative agencies work.”

Resonating a similar feeling like her batchmates, Sakshi Verma of Advertising and Marketing Communication programme, said, “Just give your five hard working years and see how you enjoy and achieve wonders in your life.” said
