At Apeejay Rhythms Kinderworld, Greater Kailash- II, experiential learning is of utmost importance. Therefore, the pre-school organised an exciting trip to the National Zoological Park in Delhi to help children experience the natural world.
Teachers, parents and staff accompanied students on this adventurous excursion. The journey began on a pleasant winter morning across a clear blue sky. Along the way, teachers informed children about the dos and don’ts while visiting the zoo.
Upon reaching the destination, the zoo authorities welcomed the tiny tots along with their teachers and parents. Students felt enthralled upon seeing the animals since it was a first for them. A troop of playful monkeys caught their attention as they entered the zoo’s premises. Then, children boarded the local trolleys to visit the different sections of the zoo.
In the birds’ subdivision, they saw stunning and colourful macaws with long-tail feathers, peacocks, cranes, parrots, nightingales and cuckoos. The macaws amused them with their quaint chatter and their beautiful bodies left them mesmerised. Next, they came across a pair of large crocodiles enjoying the sun on the banks of a half-full muddy pool of water.
After that, the students marched ahead and enthusiastically observed the majestic creatures such as the Asiatic lion, white tiger, pelicans and elephants. They were delighted to witness a wide variety of flora and fauna during their visit. The teachers helped them identify the peculiar features of each species. Thus, helping them stretch their banks of information.
The trip finally came to an end at 12 noon after which everyone enjoyed the refreshments. All the students and parents got an opportunity to bond and exchange their thoughts. The visit provided the little ones with a unique experience as they observed the animals’ movements, behaviour and habitat themselves.
“Zoos bring wildlife to the cities and through them the kids are able to connect with animals.”
