According to Malcolm X: “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” To be prepared for the future, there is a need to change with changing times. Therefore, parents are looking at a more holistic view of school admissions for their children. They keep a closer look at how schools can mould their child into more than just being academically inclined.

Hence, when it came to the admission of her elder son – Mahit Sirohi, who is today in class V at Apeejay School, Faridabad, sending him to Rhythms at Apeejay was organic. And the same was true when it came to the admission of her younger son – Abhay who is now in class IV.

“I had heard only good things about Apeejay. In fact, everyone in Faridabad has heard the name of this school. So when I had to choose a school for Mahit, that was the first name that came to me. With Abhay, it was a foregone conclusion where he would go,” Jyoti said.

Excerpts from the interview.

What is the best thing that you have noticed about Apeejay?

I would say the fact that the teachers are always accessible. Not only are they great teachers, but they are also always there to help you in case you have an issue. There have been times when I have even texted late at night and I have promptly got a reply. The teachers are so good that I had no qualms about sending Abhay to the same school.

Had you heard of Apeejay before the admission of Mahit?

Not really. But during my research for a school for him, I came across this name. I had spoken to a few counselors and at the end of our discussion, I concluded that Apeejay was the perfect fit for my son. My husband, who is in the agricultural sector also opines that this is excellent for our boys.

What are some of the academic improvements seen?

I was always keen that my sons have command over languages. Since Mahit has been at Apeejay right from the start, his command over it is excellent. When I compare my sons with other kids in the neighbourhood, I see a huge difference; my sons are so much better. I am not saying this because they are my children but it is the truth. The way Mahit and Abhay speak and behave definitely be appreciated.

What about participation in extracurricular activities?

What I love about this school is that it offers so many opportunities for students when it comes to co-curricular activities. Both my sons love to participate in all sporting activities as well as music. I see no reason why I should withdraw my children from this school.

Where do your children stand in society as compared to other kids?

There are many areas where my children stand apart. First, they are extremely confident even while speaking on the stage. I see a lot of kids their age who are shy and hide behind their mothers; my kids have no such issues. They are fearless.

They are also very punctual and disciplined which is commonly missing in kids these days.

What role have teachers played in your boys’ lives to date?

I give full credit to them; yes parents play a role as well. But teachers are the ones who are with them at every step. Even during COVID-19 and lockdown period, if the teachers had not taken the responsibility to take classes online, I as a parent, would not have been able to teach my kids. The teachers were there at each step to guide us and monitor our kids.

Has offline schooling impacted your children?

There is a vast change. During COVID-19, they had become a bit lazy and would make excuses to get up late in the morning. Now that school has started, they are far more disciplined. They get up on time, get ready and go to school. They study and do their work on time. It is a more structured routine now. I am happy with school going offline.

Would you recommend Apeejay to other parents?

I always tell other parents who think that their child is not doing very well in another school to shift their kid’s school. I am sure they will benefit just like my kids are.
