With an aim to foster sports values in students, Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram, recently organised a sports fest for the students residing in Tagore Boys and Sarojni Naidu Girls Hostels. A total of 100 students participated in 11 different games.
The students gathered at the sports ground to showcase their sportsman spirit while they participated in various games like Tug of War, Dodge Ball, Volleyball, BLUR (Online Multiplayer Game) and Badminton.
All the students of both the hostels were divided into two group- Team Black and Team White. From both the hostels two captains were chosen to make a balanced team. Amidst the fun and frolic, students followed the rules and regulations of the game and obeyed the decisions of the coaches.
From Tagore Boys Hostel team Vikas Chaudhary was chosen as the captain of the team and Kamlesh Sahoo was chosen as the captain of team Black. Meanwhile, from Sarojni Naidu Girls Hostel Sakshi Yadav and Sneha S.G were chosen as the captains of teams White and Black, respectively.
The event was coordinated by Vikas Chaudhary and Saksham Arora. The faculty coordinators for the event were Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Sports Incharge, Mr. Duncan Smith, Boys Hostel Warden, Mrs. Priya Mittal, Girls Hostel Warden, and Mr Dibendyu Tripathi, Chief Warden.
On this momentous fest, students displayed their physical abilities and a sense of good sportsmanship as their teachers and friends cheered for them. This activity came as an excellent opportunity to nurture the talent of students.
When asked about his experience, Saksham Arora, Sports Captain at Apeejay Stya University said, “Sports is as important as academics in a student’s life. This sports fest was a huge success. No classes were disturbed and all the activities took place after college hours. Hence, we created a balance between academics and extracurricular activities.”
In the end, all the winners and participants were given e- certificates.
