“Let the light of Gurpurab brighten our hearts with peace, kindness, and love.”

Gurpurab is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism and a guiding light for humanity. This special day fills people with devotion, joy, and a spirit of togetherness. Sikh families and devotees visit Gurdwaras, offer prayers, listen to kirtan, and join in Nagar Kirtans where hymns are sung with devotion.
One of the most beautiful traditions of Gurpurab is the Langar, also known as Bhandara. It is a community meal open to everyone, symbolising equality, unity, and selfless service. People cook, serve, and eat together, showing that humanity is one, regardless of religion, caste, or background.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught the world to live with love, humility, truth, and kindness. His message of ‘Ik Onkar’ reminds us that God is one and present in all. Celebrating Gurpurab inspires us to follow his teachings of sharing, helping others, and spreading light wherever we go.
This festival reminds us to become better human beings and carry forward the values of peace and compassion.
