Stepping into a professional career takes more than acquiring technical knowledge — it demands confidence, communication skills and hands-on exposure. For Aanchal Joshi, a Relationship Manager placed at Edelweiss, her journey at Apeejay School of Management (ASM) served as the turning point that helped her evolve from a shy student into a poised future leader. In this interview, the Marketing and Operations Management student from the Batch of 2025 reflects on her transformation, technical learning, and cherished campus experiences.
Read edited excerpts:
How has your journey at ASM shaped your personality?
Before joining ASM, I was extremely introverted. Over the past two years, I have grown immensely — both professionally and personally. One big factor was the weekly presentations in every subject, sometimes individually and sometimes in groups. These regular interactions pushed me out of my shell and helped me build strong communication and public-speaking skills.
Marketing subjects like Sales Management, CRM, and Consumer Behaviour taught me how to think from the customer’s perspective — “What does a consumer really want?”
Also, internships and industrial visits gave me first-hand exposure to how companies function in real-world scenarios. And the faculty guidance throughout ensured I always had someone to support me — not just academically, but even in my career decisions.
What are some key technical skills you gained during your PGDM?
ASM made me industry-ready through subjects like Business Analytics, where I learned Excel, basics of financial modelling, and CRM tools such as HubSpot, Zoho, and PRM platforms. Earlier, I hesitated to even start conversations with new people. But now, I feel confident walking up to anyone and initiating discussions. That shift has helped me greatly in my role as a Relationship Manager.
Could you share your most memorable experience from ASM?
Coordinating an event during my senior year! Before ASM, I never took part in organising anything. But our faculty encouraged us to manage events — from handling participant data to coordinating on stage. It taught me teamwork, leadership and event management skills.
I also cherish the moment I delivered my first presentation in a marketing subject. I was so nervous that I skipped the class! But my professor patiently helped me overcome that fear. That encouragement changed everything for me.
How would you describe the mentorship and faculty support at ASM?
Every student gets a dedicated mentor — mine guided me throughout my internship and placement journey. Professors are always approachable and genuinely invested in our growth. They helped me connect classroom learning with real-world outcomes and constantly reminded me of my potential — especially when I doubted myself.
Their belief in me reshaped my confidence and personality.
