In today’s scenario, it is common to have both parents working as professionals. After all, earning enough and saving is the top most priority of every household. Such changes in the family dynamics calls for the need of a bankable and supportive education system for children at the schools that will keep the parents assured, feels Ankit Srivastava, whose son Anshit studies in nursery at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
Excerpts from the interview.
How did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?
First, the school has a long history attached to it which is very impressive. They have also improved the infrastructure of the school; it has become much better. Second, academically the school is doing great and that gives it a cutting edge over other schools in South Delhi. Third, I had a few references from my friends who shared a positive feedback about the school. Cumulatively all these led us to select Apeejay for our child.
What are the things your son enjoys at the school?
He is really excited to go to school every day. He loves to participate in activities like dancing, singing, and reciting poems that are organised regularly. He loves to perform on the stage and looks forward to doing so excitedly. We also encourage him regularly for all these activities.
What are your plans ahead for your son?
For now we are really satisfied with the school, we haven’t come across any challenges for now. It’s going to be a long journey ahead so we are looking forward to it with great hopes.
How are the teachers at the school?
They are definitely approachable and take immense care of your child at the school. Not only during PTMs but whenever I go to pick and drop my son at the school, his teacher will meet me and share feedback about my son. So even in a regular conversation, teachers make sure to keep me updated about my child. I can see the kids are really attached to the teachers. My son especially feels so comfortable around his teacher and shares everything with them.
Has school brought in any positive changes in your son?
My son started school in April this year, we, as parents, have seen remarkable changes in his personality. He is now trying to communicate on his own in English and picking up different words to express. He has become really inquisitive also and talks a lot about many things.
How much do you agree with the adage- school is the second home for a child?
Every day he wakes up early without any problem and gets dressed for school happily. He will keep telling us that he is looking forward to meeting his friends and teachers at the school. All this development in his life obviously means the school has become a second home for him.
Has Apeejay lived up to your expectations so far?
Definitely, unlike other schools, Apeejay doesn’t believe in giving unnecessary activities to the kid. There are certain project making activities that a child from the nursery cannot build on his own, so it is evident that the parents fulfill those certain tasks on behalf of the child. This defeats the whole purpose of learning for the child. In Apeejay, there are activities organised which a child is able to carry out on his own, under minimum guidance and is not a burden on parents.
