Donating blood is a crucial act that aids those in need within our community. But are we taking the necessary steps to ensure a consistent blood supply when emergencies arise? We’re all familiar with the powerful phrase – When you give, others live. With a mere pint of donated blood, we can impact up to three lives. So, what’s holding us back?
It’s time to unleash the superhero within your veins! To raise awareness, Apeejay Schools recently participated in a blood donation camp hosted by the Rotary Club of Delhi Premier at Select City Walk, New Delhi.
The event drew students, parents, visitors, esteemed Rotary Club members, and Apeejay Education staff. The turnout was impressive, featuring participants from diverse backgrounds, including Apeejay School members from various branches like Panchsheel Park, Faridabad, Pitampura, and Noida to name a few.
With over 200 registrations, volunteers meticulously ensured donors’ physical fitness through live haemoglobin tests, aligning with the commitment to save lives with just a drop of blood. The allure of making a life-saving difference attracted mall visitors to join the cause.
Speaking at the event, Lord Aaditya a member of the Rotary Club expressed gratitude for the annual activity, acknowledging the invaluable support from Dr Neha Berlia, Co-Promoter of Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, and Pro-Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University, along with the entire Apeejay School team.

Rotary Club members, dressed in white, delivered a dynamic two-day performance, dispelling myths and emphasizing the essence of organ donation. Their impactful message resonated: “Let’s become heroes and donate an organ — Ang daan, Mahadaan!” The Rotary Club’s president, Mr Sudhanshu, shared the club’s commitment to annual initiatives, not just limited to blood donation but extending to organ donation camps.
The performance concluded with a soul-stirring song, prompting numerous volunteers to register for eye donations. A standee at the camp entrance featured a barcode for instant organ donation registration, a testament to the Rotary Club’s impactful outreach.

Dr Anjana Nath, Chief People Officer at Apeejay Education, stressed the importance of donating blood at least twice a year, highlighting the persistent shortage despite initiatives by clubs like Rotary and Red Cross. Donors shared personal experiences, with Mrs Monika, a mall visitor, expressing her instant decision to donate blood for the first time.
Over two days, the blood donation camp successfully collected 75 units of blood, aiming not just for quantity but to raise awareness among those unfamiliar with the importance of regular blood donation. Mr NN Nayyar, Senior Education Officer, Apeejay Education, commended the initiative, emphasising the potential impact of a pint of blood in saving multiple lives.

Despite freezing temperatures, dedicated staff members contributed to the cause, echoing the sentiment that doing the right thing is never wrong. The Rotary Club member, Mrs Aneesha, appreciated the community’s warmth in braving the cold to save unknown lives.
Passers-by inspired by the camp spontaneously volunteered. Gopal Singh Bisht, a mall visitor, highlighted the profound impact of even a single drop of blood. Each donor received appreciation from the Rotary Club in the form of goodie bags containing a certificate and a medal. Apeejay School added refreshments to ensure donors left not only fulfilled but also with satisfied appetites. The two-day blood donation camp was a resounding success. Every drop contributed will create ripples of hope and healing for countless tomorrows. Mrs Kanika, a Rotary Club member, extended heartfelt thanks to Dr Neha Berlia, and the entire Apeejay Education, acknowledging their crucial role in making the event possible.
