Sports are not only about physical endurance but also about determination, daily discipline, and strong willpower. Arnav Sindhu, a bright Class VIII student of Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, recently brought pride to his school by clinching a silver medal in cycling at the district level. Interestingly, Arnav picked up cycling just a month before the competition. With his dedication and consistent practice, he has proved that perseverance can make all the difference. In this conversation, he shares his journey, challenges, and future aspirations.

Read edited excerpts:

Arnav, how did your cycling journey begin?

It actually started just a month ago. My coach sir taught me how to cycle, and from there I began my practice. I wanted to participate because cycling is also a part of triathlon, which I regularly train for. That motivated me to give it a try.

What was the experience like at the district-level competition?

The cycling track was about 3–4 km long. I had practiced every morning for half an hour to one hour before school, which sometimes even made me late to class. But all that effort paid off when I won the silver medal. It felt really good to achieve this.

How did your parents react to your achievement?

My parents were very happy and told me to keep going like this. Their encouragement motivates me to work harder.

You mentioned triathlon. Can you share more about it?

Yes, I take part in triathlons which includes running, swimming, and cycling. That’s why I thought participating in a cycling competition would be a good opportunity to improve my skills in one of the three areas.

What challenges did you face during training?

Cycling requires a lot of strength and stamina. Initially, it was difficult, but I kept practicing every day. I believe if we continue working hard, we should never give up.

What are your future goals in sports?

I want to reach the national and international levels in triathlon and cycling. I know it will require a lot of dedication, but I am ready to put in the hard work.
