Neha Jibin from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park is a poet with many streams flowing in her heart. She is equally adept to write a fabulous poem on any subject. Her recent poem Never Thought this way is an example of this.
Selected once again in this week’s Promising Poet, let us read about the constant improvements Neha is undergoing to find her poetic voice.
Neha, tell us about your growth in poetry since we spoke last?
I feel a lot of growth happening within me. I have managed to read some famous poems of Robert Frost and Rudyard Kipling in recent weeks. The Road Not Taken is one of my favourite poems.
You have been writing poems on many new subjects. What keeps you motivated?
When I watch new dramas and web series I get motivated from the characters there and their unique expressions and also when I read books, ideas keep coming to my mind.
And how is your school motivating you?
My school is giving us students good opportunities to write and by the support of my teachers and friends, I am growing with every opportunity, every new poem I write.
Tell us about the next poems you are going to write?
I had recently written a poem called Hidden Agenda and I am also going to write a blog as a change of mind. My blog article will be on the topic ‘Why radio is still an essential form of media in the 21st century’
You choose your subjects from everyday life. What inspires you in daily life?
In my poetry, I find inspiration in the ordinary moments and experiences of daily life. I believe that there is beauty and meaning to be found in the mundane and I strive to capture those moments in my work as a poet.
Any changes or additions in your writing process?
Yes, I now experiment with new poetic forms, styles, or techniques to expand my repertoire and challenge myself creatively.
Do your friends read your poem when it gets published on the Apeejay Newsroom website?
Yes they do! And they feel so happy for me and proud of me. They then come to me and often share their thoughts on my poem. This is followed by a great discussion.
Future targets as a poet?
I don’t want the pressure of any target as a poet , I am just writing my poems as a hobby when I am free. I want to continue enjoying this process.
