Republic Day is celebrated with immense patriotism, zeal, and unbridled enthusiasm throughout India. This occasion is particularly significant for schools, as they aim to foster a sense of pride and awareness in students about the nation’s values and Constitution.
Apeejay School International (ASI) in Panchsheel Park marked its 75th Republic Day on January 25, 2024, within the school premises. The day commenced at 10 am with the ceremonial flag hoisting and the stirring sounds of the National Anthem. This was followed by an array of scheduled events, unified under this year’s empowering theme of ‘Nari Shakti’ or Women’s Empowerment. The activities were designed to honour and acknowledge the resilience and strength of women.

Students from the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP) captivated the audience with vibrant tableaux representing various states. These presentations showcased the unique cultures, traditional attire, and lively dances of each state, creating a rich cultural tapestry. The MYP students presented their extensive research on local and global movements for women’s empowerment. Simultaneously, PYP students exhibited their creativity with a display of handmade dolls, each dressed to symbolise women’s freedom of choice. They also engaged the audience with a talk on India’s geopolitical positioning, highlighting the country’s significant shifts on the world stage.

The event was a colourful celebration of patriotism, blending fun and engagement and leaving a profound impact on everyone involved. A notable feature of the programme was a video compilation from ASI students, depicting their vision of India in 2040. The celebrations concluded with a heartening message from Mr Purshottam Dutt Vashisht, the school principal. He encouraged the students to foster a safe, peaceful, and sustainable environment. Emphasizing the importance of pursuing dreams, he urged them to find their purpose and contribute to a community ethos that extends beyond individual interests.
This Republic Day celebration at Apeejay School International was not just a commemoration but an embodiment of the spirit of unity, resilience, and empowerment, mirroring the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
