Selected as this week’s Apeejay Promising Poet, let’s dive into the world of this talented young artist and discover what inspires her craft.
At what age did you start writing poetry?
I started writing poetry at the age of 13. Initially, it was just an interest, but it quickly grew into a passion.
What inspired you to start writing poems?
Writing poems allowed me to express my inner thoughts and feelings. It made me feel relaxed and calm, providing a therapeutic outlet for my emotions.
Can you tell us the thought behind your poem “Life”?
The poem “Life” conveys the message that life has both good and bad sides simultaneously. It also delves into the harsh realities of our materialistic world, highlighting the balance between joy and challenges.
Who is your favorite poet, and what is your favorite poem by them?
My favorite poet is Robert Frost, and my favorite poem by him is “Good Hours.” His work deeply resonates with me and inspires my own writing.
Do you prefer writing in rhyme or free verse?
I prefer writing in rhyme. There’s something magical about the rhythm and flow that rhymed poetry brings.
Do you write poems during the day or at night?
I love to write poems at night in a cozy environment. The quiet and peace of nighttime provide the perfect backdrop for creativity.
How does your school support your poetry writing?
The teachers at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, have always encouraged me to write poetry. Their support and guidance have been invaluable in nurturing my talent.
How do you approach writing a poem? How much time does it usually take to finish a poem? What are your common themes?
I usually start by thinking of a topic that I feel passionate about. Then, I just begin to write with all my heart. It typically takes me around one or two days to complete a poem, depending on the topic. My common themes include nature and the events happening around us in the world.
What is the best thing about writing poetry for you?
The best thing about writing poetry is that it fills me with optimism and happiness. It allows me to create a positive atmosphere around me and share that with others through my words.
Senior Correspondent at the Apeejay Newsroom, Arijit has written more than a thousand articles across varied genres and also shot video interviews and live coverages with the highest viewership, displaying his versatility and skill. Be it a special achievement article, feedback from a parent, high profile alumnus interview or a featured write up on culture, literature and sports, he is the go to person. His initiatives like Aspiring Artist, Promising Poet and Book reviews have earned him special place in the hearts of all students and readers. Arijit initiated video interviews with a wholesome campaign on the 2022 FIFA World Cup, consisting of 16 match review articles and 3 video interviews of budding football players and enthusiasts across various Apeejay schools in Delhi. He also did the live coverage of Apeejay Noida's mega event Runathon 2023 and also many other special interviews. All his videos created new benchmarks for views, especially the latter crossing 2k views in just days. A performing poet, short story writer and football player in the other half of the day, Arijit leads a colourful and passionate life.
