THE WORLD I WANT TO SEE IN 2040

Change is inevitable. Sooner or later, everything is bound to change. In today’s time, change comes so fast that it doesn’t happen from year to year or month to month; it happens from day to day! This leads to an almost new world every year. Modern technology plays a great role in changing the world for both good and bad.

My vision of the year 2040, when I will be 25 years old, is very clear. Discussions with my father and watching the news on TV have led me to make my choices. Certainly, I want to see a world free from borders. No boundaries to mark or draw lines between two countries. I am reminded of the poem- No Men are Foreign by James Kirkup, in which he expresses the same desire that people should live in universal brotherhood. I feel that there should be only one citizenship all over the world, and the same rules and regulations should be followed by one and all.

The second thing that I want to see is a world free of nuclear weapons. No one should be scared of such weapons, which can destroy not only one’s own life but also that of their future generations to come. The very fact that nations possessing such weapons make them feel superior to those who don’t have them creates a threat that they use for dominance over others.

Next in line is my desire to see ‘Moral Values’ as a proper compulsory subject in all schools and classes. This is because these days, we students get very high scores and pass our exams with flying colours, but sadly lack in moral values. The qualities of kindness, generosity, and empathy for each other are lacking in our generation.

Last of all, I would like to see a world full of healthy people who are free from all ailments caused by the consumption of an adulterated diet. I also don’t want anyone to suffer from any kind of pain or deadly diseases. A healthy world is surely going to produce healthy brains, which in turn will make this world a beautiful place to live in.

I wish that in the coming days we, the youngsters, can improve and make ourselves capable of bringing such changes that help to make the world as I want to see it by the year 2040.
