The three dimensions of a dream

What comes to my mind when I say dreams

Stuff that will never become reality, it seems

But they will become, of hope, rays and beams

If my thoughts and actions work as a team

A dream is something that never lets you stop. It is the feeling of having nothing, but at the same time everything you ever needed. Dreams are what great people’s realities are made of. But what definition of dream does the youth of today perceive?

Instant success at the cost of anything. Their dreams are mostly encircled around themselves and this is the greatest problem. This thought traps them inside a small bubble, which cannot be bursted and escaped from after a certain point of time in life.  So is it wrong to think about yourself? No. So are they not willing to achieve big? Certainly, they are. But are they capable of doing something much bigger? Of course, yes! And this is exactly why we need to broaden our perspective. You have to realise that to achieve big, you have to follow some supreme steps. Whatever your dream is, remember to add these three dimensions to them.

Firstly, never stop dreaming. Never settle down for mediocrity and meagre satisfaction. You are much more capable than you might think you are. Let the fire inside you burn until it flows out in the form of success. Young minds are not supposed to be caged, they are here to soar higher and higher. Things that were unthinkable in the past are now being achieved so wonderfully, so why should we not think beyond our limits and break many more stereotypes? And for this, we shall continue to dream until we conquer each one of them.

Secondly, dream to fulfill not one, but many dreams. If you are capable, try to fulfill all your dreams. Do what is in your power and lift others up. Try to be a great person, not just the best. Work with pure intentions. Work not to defeat others, but to make yourself win. Now there’s a difference between the two. You have a whole lot of potential inside you and there isn’t any need to put someone down to prove that. We appear to be what we think we are, but we’re actually what we act upon. Don’t stop at yourself, we all have a purpose. Imagine all of us thinking in this way. Wouldn’t the world be a 100 times better place to live in? Make this the ultimate goal of your life, to fulfill not one, but many dreams.

Lastly, just go with the flow. No, this is not in contradiction with the first two points, but just a different framework. Life may throw a plethora of obstacles and failures at you, but you should be brave enough to convert them into bridges of determination and pave way for your victory.

People often say, ‘Turn your dreams into reality’. But I say, make yourself so capable, that you can mould the reality into your dreams. Accept the situations you’re put in, but never bow down to them. Try smiling at your hardships once in a while, it will think twice before coming to you the next time! Situations may seem to be tacky, remind yourself of your dreams.

Sometimes you may want to give up altogether. It is at this time that you revisit your last hurdle and reminisce about its victorious outcome. Don’t blame the obstacles that come your way, the hardest of sums are always given to those who have the ability to solve them. Accept what comes your way and fight it with all your strength. That is, just go with the flow.

Life is never easy. Life will never be easy. We have to dream and continue to dream until we live our dreams.

Because we live to dream, and we dream to live!
