On December 7, 2024, Apeejay Svran Global School, Sector 21-D, Faridabad, celebrated Grandparents’ Day with great enthusiasm. The event, themed Baghban, aimed to honour and appreciate the invaluable role grandparents play in shaping young minds and enriching family lives.
The celebration began with a warm welcome, followed by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony symbolising knowledge and enlightenment. To promote environmental consciousness, a sapling plantation ceremony was also conducted.
The school’s Principal, Ms Priti Wason, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, emphasising the crucial role grandparents play in nurturing and guiding younger generations. She encouraged students to cherish and respect this special relationship built on love, wisdom, and shared memories.


Cultural Performances by Students
The event featured captivating performances by students from Pre-primary to class V.
Pre-primary Charm: The young minds enchanted the audience with rhymes, welcome songs, and a retro dance performance that revived the musical era of the 80s.
Melodious Tributes: Students of classes I to III sang soulful songs paying rich tribute to their grandparents, expressing love and gratitude through music.
Dances Celebrating Culture: The Haryanvi folk dances by class IV and V celebrated the cultural heritage of Haryana and held the audience captivated all through.
Theatrical Expressions: Class V students performed a moving skit about life in old age homes, touching hearts with its powerful message. Another skit, Rishton ki Ahemiyat, by students of classes III and IV, beautifully portrayed the depth of family bonds.
Health and Wellness Showcase: Students demonstrated flexible yogic postures, promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical and mental fitness.


Speaking about the event, Ms Malavika Sharma, the school Coordinator, shared:” The celebration of Grandparents’ Day was a touching homage full of appreciation and affection. With their enthralling performances, our gifted kids lighted up the stage, making everyone in attendance smile with delight and cry with emotion. An enduring aura of warmth and affection was produced by their genuine efforts and passionate sentiments, honouring the enduring connection between generations. Excellent work!”
Interactive Storytelling Session
To deepen the family connection, an interactive storytelling session was organised, inviting grandparents to share personal stories and life lessons from their past. This engaging session allowed students to learn from the experiences of their elders, fostering mutual understanding and respect.







The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms Malavika, appreciating the efforts of the students, teachers, and grandparents for making the celebration a memorable one. The day was a touching reminder of the timeless bond shared between grandparents and grandchildren — a relationship that grows stronger with love, respect, and shared moments.
