Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision that not only positively impacts their academic performance but also their personal development as well. While you are choosing the right school for your child, always keep in mind to choose an institute that believes in the holistic development of its students.
One such institute is Apeejay School. For the same, parents like Reema Luthra chose to rely upon Apeejay Education. Her daughter, Himanaya Luthra, is a student of class VII, studying at Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad.
In an impromptu interview, the mother highlights how the environment of this school has helped her child be comfortable with the environment of learning.
How has been Himanaya’s experience to date?
It has been exceptionally well. Whenever I broach the topic of changing the school, she expresses her reluctance. She finds immense comfort and joy in attending classes in such a friendly environment. For me, studies go side by side. I always wanted to enroll my daughter in a school that offers a secure environment for my child.
Is she active in any extracurricular activities?
Yes. She loves to participate in all kinds of events held at school, be it annual or cultural day events. Since her father is an artist, she loves arts and crafts.
Do you think that the school keeps you well-informed about upcoming events?
Yes. There are WhatsApp groups maintained wherein all parents get updated information timely. The teacher’s hard work is appreciated. They are very friendly, supportive, and approachable. The teaching methodology here is commendable and I was able to see drastic improvements in my kid.
How do you spend quality time with your daughter?
Our schedules often clash during the week, but my daughter and I still take time to spend quality time. We plan outings at the weekends which gives us great room to bond.
Apeejay believes in equal opportunities for its students. What is the role of a parent here?
There is no doubt that Apeejay provides equal opportunities to all of its students. I, as a parent, intend to consistently encourage and support Himanaya’s interests. For instance, a few days back, she came to me saying there is an upcoming winter carnival in the school, so why don’t we put an art stall? I supported seeing how enthusiastic she is. Her enthusiasm keeps that inner child intact within me.
How do you tell your child not to run after these materialistic assets?
As she approaches her teen years, I have recently observed her developing a rebellious attitude. To navigate this phase, I maintain open communication with her. When we were in school, we had access to limited information. Today, kids have a lot of exposure to social media. But since we have bonded well, she respects me and listens to me as we navigate through this phase in her life.
What is your parenting mantra?
At times, I find myself oscillating between being too lenient and or too strict. It is very important to maintain a balance here. We must start accepting that, kids can also be right. It’s not always necessary to impose our views on them. It’s essential to listen to them and give them the freedom to express themselves.
