Stepping into a new city, a new course, and an unfamiliar language can be overwhelming. For Saran Reddy, a student of Apeejay School of Management (Batch 2024–26), the journey began with hesitation but gradually transformed into a story of confidence, growth, and achievement. Now placed as a Category Manager at Lots Wholesale, Saran reflects on how his time at ASM reshaped both his personality and career outlook.

Read edited excerpts:

How did your journey at ASM begin, and what challenges did you face initially?
When I first joined ASM, I was quite nervous. One of my biggest struggles was not knowing Hindi, which made communication difficult. It was challenging to adjust in the beginning, both academically and socially.

How did you overcome these challenges over time?
My friends played a huge role in helping me settle in. They supported me in studies and day-to-day interactions. Gradually, I started learning and improving my Hindi as well. Over time, I became more comfortable and confident in expressing myself.

How would you describe the faculty support at ASM?
The faculty support is excellent. The teaching experience is very structured and helpful. Even during exams, or whenever I had doubts, the faculty were always approachable and ensured that my queries were clearly addressed.

Can you share a moment at ASM that significantly boosted your confidence?
Yes, participating in the Freshers’ Party fashion show was a turning point. I had severe stage fear, even during my B.Tech days and early MBA presentations. But when I walked the ramp, I felt a shift. That experience helped me overcome my fear and gain confidence.

How did this newfound confidence impact you later?
After getting placed, I was invited to speak in front of other students and share my experience. Standing on stage and addressing everyone felt like a big achievement for me. It made me realise how far I had come.
