Almost all parents in India go into stress mode when it comes to choosing the perfect school for their children. The stress associated with choosing the right school in India is a complex interplay of societal expectations, cultural values, and the aspiration for academic and career success for the next generation. Our culture places a high value on education, and parents often feel the weight of societal expectations to provide the best possible educational opportunities for their children. Parents want to ensure a secure future for their children, and they believe that the right school can contribute to a successful and stable career, adding to the family’s financial security.
Therefore, parents like Balkrishna Bhau Metangale and his wife Lalita spent time researching the perfect school for their son – Paarth. In a candid interview, the father says that their overall experience at Apeejay School, Nerul is excellent.
Tell us a little about your son.
He is at present in class VII. He has been at this school right from the nursery. His academic as well as overall development has been excellent to date.
Can you recall why you chose this school for your son?
Whoever lives in Navi Mumbai has heard of Apeejay School Neul. It’s one of the top schools in the area. When we were looking for a school for Paarth, it made sense to choose the best that is out there. We are happy that we made the right decision.
How is your son performing academically and in extracurricular activities?
He’s excelling in both academics and extracurricular activities. He participates in various activities, including declamation to name one. He also actively participates in all school functions.
How would you describe the teaching methodology?
The teaching methodology is conceptual, and the teachers are effective in helping students understand and implement concepts. The teachers don’t encourage rote learning in students. They ensure that the kids understand the topic being taught. This helps the child to gain knowledge about the whys and whats.
Do your queries get addressed promptly?
Yes, parent-teacher meetings are regular. And we make sure that either my wife or I attend them. We are very hands-on with Paarth’s studies even though he is only in class VII. Queries, if any, are either addressed during the PTMs or via WhatsApp messages promptly by the teachers.
The emphasis on holistic development in education is gaining importance. Why?
In today’s fast-paced world, parents want their children to be well-rounded individuals, excelling not only academically but also in personal development. Just academic excellence is not enough today. In every sphere today, organisations are looking for individuals who have well-rounded personalities.
How is Apeejay School, Nerul contributing to your son’s overall development?
I would say that the school is doing a great job in this regard. It encourages my child to participate in various activities boosting his confidence. The school is contributing significantly, and we are pleased with the holistic development approach.
Developing a strong bond with a son is important. How do you approach this?
As a father, I don’t impose my views on him. We communicate with each other; I try to understand his perspective. Gone are the days when a parent said something and the children followed it. Today, my parenting mantra is to be my son’s friend and create an environment where he feels comfortable sharing his thoughts and feelings.
Reflecting on your nearly nine years of experience with the school, how would you rate it?
Our experience has been excellent, covering academics, activities, and safety. Over the years, my son has gained a lot of confidence and is doing well in his class.
