Nurturing a child involves a collaborative effort between schools, families, and communities, but first and foremost schools play a vital role in nurturing a child by providing an environment that fosters holistic development, expresses Shruti Gupta, who’s on Ayaansh studies in class KG at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
Excerpts from the interview.
How did you select Apeejay as an admission choice?
We initially had three-four choices and among all of them we selected this school based upon several criteria. First, our friends and family rated Apeejay really high. Second, the infrastructure of the school which is quite impressive. The whole campus is so huge and the playground is super beautiful. The school boasts of a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts and much more. It is highly impressive altogether.
How are the teachers here?
I have had a great so far with the teachers here. Since my son is in KG, the nursery and the KG class teachers are really helpful and efficient professionals. Till now they have been highly cooperative and keep me updated about my child. They also suggest the areas we as parents have to work on and that helps a lot to understand my son’s progress better.
How has Apeejay influenced your child positively?
There are few things he talks about that seem new to me, he narrates to me about them and when I prod further about how he learnt that, then he tells me that his teachers have taught him. Ayaansh is always keen to finish his homework for which I give the credit to the school for making homework so interesting for a child to look forward to daily.
How much do you agree with the adage – that school is the second home for a child?
I totally agree with the mentioned adage. A child is spending a large chunk of his time at the school and by default the institute plays a big role in shaping up his personality and growth. There is a saying that – show me your friends and I will tell you your future, I believe that school is the place where ideally all this influence starts.
How is the balance between extracurricular activities and studies here?
My son enjoys Math a lot. It is his favourite subject. And he loves reading, I am glad that he has picked this habit up so early on. In co-curricular, Ayaansh is fond of drama, so he has enrolled himself into theatre clubs at the school.
Describe your parenting mantra.
My husband and I believe in going with the flow, for us his happiness is our top most priority. We believe in honouring all the skills that he is born with. I would want to encourage him to learn and grow in his skills and should believe in himself.
