The Power of the Right People: How Your Circle Shapes Your Career and Mindset

Take a moment and think about the people you spend most of your time with. The conversations you have, the energy you share, the mindset you absorb. You may not notice it every day, but over time, your circle quietly shapes your confidence, your decisions, and your direction in life.
In today’s world, we often focus on degrees, skills, and artificial intelligence as the drivers of success. While these are important, there is another factor working silently in the background, the people around you. They influence how you think, how you respond to challenges, and how far you believe you can go.
During my time at Apeejay Stya University, I experienced this deeply. It was not just about academics, but about being in an environment where faculty believed in growth. I still remember a moment when a professor said, “Aryan Sharma, we will help you, but you have to take the first step.” That belief created a shift in mindset and helped me see learning as something beyond marks.
As I moved forward, I realised how the right people continue to shape your journey even outside the classroom. Manya Arora, who is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies, has been consistently focusing on building skills alongside academics. Her curiosity to learn and explore areas like artificial intelligence reflects how the right mindset, supported by the right environment, prepares someone for the future.
In my professional space, I have experienced a similar influence. My colleague and close friend, Jyoti Kumari, has always made an effort to understand not just the work, but the approach and mindset behind it. There are very few people who go beyond professional roles, who check on your well being and support you when it truly matters. This kind of understanding creates a strong sense of synergy, reduces unnecessary conflicts, and allows greater focus on work, improving both productivity and quality.
This journey has taught me that growth is not a solo effort. It is shaped by the people who stand with you, especially in moments you do not express.
So if you ever feel stuck, look at your environment. The right people can change not just your situation, but your mindset. Because in the end, your circle does not just walk with you, it helps you become who you are meant to be.
