The right curriculum helps to reflect educational philosophies with distinct teaching methods and values of the school. If you want to enroll your child at an appropriate school, make sure to deeply look into the type of curriculum they have created. Understanding the curriculum shall help align the parent’s expectations with the goals of the school. The same way it has aligned for the parents like Manveen Kaur Wahid, mother of Agam Singh Wahid, studying in Class V, at Apeejay School, Tanda Road.

In an impromptu interview, the mother talks about how she made an informed decision to choose the best school in town for her child.

What was your primary reason for choosing the school?

The first and foremost reason for choosing this school was its proximity to the place we reside. Moreover, I have always been fond of the curriculum and the books that the academic school prescribes.

How has been your child’s experience till now?

Outstanding. Over the years, I have never faced any major issues. The teachers and the staff of this school are super cooperative and supportive. Since the teachers are great listeners, it is relatively easier to approach them in case of any queries.

Does he like to participate in extracurricular activities?

Agam doesn’t have a knack for sports as such. Although, recently he started practicing kickboxing. During summers, he used to go to swimming classes, post school hours.

Mention any of his recent achievements.

He is a bright student. He consistently secures the top position in his class every year, a testament to his academic excellence and the guidance provided by his teachers.

How do you manage his studies at home?

I devote all my time to supporting him in his studies. Our daily routine is well-structured. Starting with a morning walk and continuing with a thorough revision of the previous day’s lessons. We follow the timetable, ensuring a focused and uninterrupted study period from 5 to 7 pm. This disciplined approach has played a great role in shaping him into an organised person.

Have you seen any notable changes in his behaviour?

Yes. Since he is now entering his early teens, I have seen some noticeable changes in his behaviour. Recognising this transitional phase, I have addressed the same to the school to keep an eye on students as this is a very crucial age. The teachers are genuinely paying attention to the same as well.

Also, Agam may not be particularly outspoken, but it’s clear that he is navigating this journey of personal growth with thoughtful consideration.

How do you handle his screen time?

I am very lucky in this way as my kid is not fond of scrolling on smartphones as of now. I give mine to them sometimes, but they usually watch TV after their studies with their father.

How do you plan to spend quality time with him?

He is quite a foodie and loves to cook. For the same, we spend a lot of time cooking. He also likes gardening so we go gardening together. We often indulge in activities like drawing competitions. Every winter/summer break we plan on doing a project together.

What is your activity plan for the upcoming winter break?

Since we plan on different activities every winter/summer break, this time I am planning to indulge in creating the best out-of-waste practice. I have already purchased materials and other essential things to get started with the same.
