When children enjoy going to school every day, it reflects the kind of supportive environment they are a part of. For Mrs. Jayashree Narayanswamy Iyer, a Credit Analyst at Standard Chartered Bank, this joy is something she witnesses in her daughter, Ananya Iyer, a Class 4 student at Apeejay School, Nerul.
From starting her journey in nursery school during the COVID-19 online classes to now actively participating in cultural and academic activities, Ananya has grown into a confident and enthusiastic learner. In this conversation, Mrs. Iyer shares her experience as a parent and the reasons behind her daughter’s strong bond with the school.
Read edited excerpts:
How has Ananya’s journey been at Apeejay School, Nerul so far?
Ananya started her schooling here from nursery, during the COVID-19 period. Even though classes were online, the teachers ensured that children enjoyed learning. They kept activities engaging and made every child participate. That strong foundation made Ananya like the school, and once she entered regular classes, she adapted very smoothly. She has always found her teachers supportive and approachable.

What do you feel makes the curriculum at Apeejay unique?
The focus is not just on academics but also on overall development. Children are encouraged to take part in stage performances, competitions and co-curricular activities, which removes stage fear and builds confidence. This balance between studies and activities really prepares them for life.
Can you share some of Ananya’s interests and achievements?
She loves singing and dancing, and has been participating in school programs since nursery. Her teachers have always motivated her and even suggested that she take professional training because of her talent. Apart from cultural activities, she also enjoys elocution, recitation and project-based learning in subjects like Science and Mathematics.
How do teachers support children in their learning journey?
Teachers are very approachable and give honest feedback during PTMs. They ensure that every child gets personal attention. Even if Ananya misses a class due to rehearsals, her teachers guide her so she doesn’t fall behind. This makes learning stress-free and enjoyable for her.
What do you value the most about Apeejay School, Nerul?
The best part is that my child is truly happy here. She enjoys her classes, loves her teachers, and looks forward to school every day. The school has helped her grow academically, socially, and creatively. That’s why, even when her father’s job took us to Germany, Ananya insisted on continuing at Apeejay Nerul.
