The Art of Man-Making: ‘Kindness, love, and sympathy are important’

Meet Agam Singh Wahid, a bright and humble Class VII student from Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, who has recently been honoured with the prestigious Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values 2025. Agam firmly believes that being a good human being is as important as academic success. With a strong focus on his studies and physical fitness, he enjoys cycling, reading books, and exploring new ideas that expand his knowledge. His positive attitude, kindness, and desire to help others reflect the very values this award stands for. Agam continues to inspire his peers by leading through compassion, gratitude, and purposeful learning. 

In a candid interview, he talks about the human values he believes in.

 How did you feel when you learned that you received this prestigious award?

I felt extremely happy and proud of myself. My parents were also very excited and joyful. I am grateful to my teachers because their constant support and guidance helped me achieve this honour. 

Which human values do you believe are most important?

Kindness, love, empathy, and sympathy are very important. These values form the foundation of humanity, and I believe everyone should practise them in their daily lives, especially in today’s fast-moving world.    

How do you practise these values daily with family and friends?

I try to be grateful, polite, and helpful. I support those in need, like giving food or blankets to people working on the streets during winter. I also help classmates, friends, and family whenever they need support. 

Which part of Dr Stya Paul’s philosophy inspires you the most?

His strength, endurance, and positive attitude inspire me deeply. Despite challenges, he has set up various schools within Apeejay Education Society. His strong willpower encourages me to never give up.   

What qualities of his would you like to follow in your life?

I want to follow his determination, courage, and commitment to serve society. His journey teaches me that challenges should never stop us from achieving something meaningful.

Who is your role model?

My role model is Dr Stya Paul. His inspiring achievements and values motivate me to become a responsible and compassionate person.

What are your future goals and aspirations?

I am interested in STEM fields and technology. I want to learn more about AI and how it works in real life. I dream of innovating and using technology for the good of society. AI has helped me understand school projects better and explore new concepts, along with guidance from my teachers. It must be used safely and responsibly because misuse can be harmful. Technology should always support learning, not replace real teaching.
