Arsh Chourasia, a Class 7 student at Apeejay School, Kharghar, has been honoured with the prestigious Dr. Stya Paul Award for Human Values. This award recognises students who exemplify integrity and a profound sense of human values. Apeejay Newsroom spoke with Arsh about his journey and the significance of human values in his life. Read edited excerpts:
Congratulations on receiving the award, Arsh! What does this achievement mean to you?
Thank you! It means a lot to me. It shows that my efforts to be disciplined and maintain good relationships in school have paid off.
You mentioned discipline as important. Can you elaborate on how it impacts your daily life?

Discipline helps me stay focused on my studies. I always try to be respectful and kind to everyone, which I think is crucial for a positive environment.
During the interview, what was one of the key questions you were asked?
I was asked what I believe is the most important value a person should have. I said kindness and compassion are really important.
You also mentioned Dr. Stya Paul. What quote of his inspires you the most?
I love this quote: “It is not a disgrace if dreams are unfulfilled, but it is, if we have no dreams to dream!.” It encourages me to keep dreaming and striving for my goals.
What quality of Dr. Stya Paul do you admire and wish to develop in yourself?
I admire his determination. I want to be determined in everything I pursue, just like he was.
How do you define human values?

Human values include being kind, obedient, disciplined, thankful, and helpful. They guide how I interact with others.
In what ways have these values shaped you?
I didn’t realise I had human values until I received this award. It made me reflect on my actions and how they affect those around me.
Finally, what core values do you believe are particularly relevant today?
Kindness and compassion are essential now more than ever. They help create a supportive community.
