Going from Class X to Class XI comes with its challenges and ups and downs. While some say that this is the class where one can enjoy before the grind starts for Class XII Board exams, others think that one should keep the momentum. This course helps students ensure that their results are good. Consistency and hard work are the keys to success.

Meet three such students – Nandini Jha (90.6%), Pavani Trehan (88.8%), and Pritha Majumder (85%) – of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, who have shown that hard work always pays. In a candid interview, they share the study strategy, among other things.

Nandini, who was happy with her result, said, “It felt rewarding, especially after all the effort I had put in throughout the year. My study strategy was simple — consistency and practice. I studied regularly, didn’t let concepts pile up, and revised as much as possible. Writing practice was critical for me, and I plan to follow the same approach for Class XII as well,” said the Class XII student, who loves to read books. Moreover, because she doesn’t restrict herself to any genre.

Her teachers have been extremely supportive. “At the school level, they regularly guided me on how to prepare for internal assessments, school-level exams, and eventually the Board exams. One thing they always emphasised — and I completely agree — is that many students tend to stop writing since they get used to the MCQ format. That affects their school performance. I was always encouraged to continue writing practice, and that made a big difference for me,” the NEET aspirant shared.

Pavani is determined to pursue a career in medicine and is preparing for the NEET exam with dedication and clarity. She loves to play badminton and draw. “However, I have taken a break from this because of the studies,” she said and added that, like in her Class X Board exam where her focus was on NCERT textbooks and practising the solved examples, she followed the same in Class XI.

“I also made sure to go out and play for at least an hour every day to refresh my mind and manage stress. My teachers were incredibly supportive as well. I had several doubts in Chemistry, and my teacher would always make time to help me, even outside regular classes. That kind of support gave me confidence and kept me motivated,” Pavani said.

Pritha believes that her result could have been better. “It wasn’t exactly what I had expected. But I do understand that the shift from Class X to XI is quite significant — the syllabus becomes more detailed and challenging, and the pace is faster,” this Class XII student said, who enjoys reading novels, especially in the fantasy genre. “I also like to draw and paint, but most of my time is focused on studying,” she said.

Her main resource was NCERT textbooks. “I didn’t study based on hours; instead, I set daily goals. My aim was always to complete a specific number of tasks or chapters each day, no matter how long it took. In these endeavours, my teachers were always with me. My teachers were extremely supportive. They were always ready to clear doubts. I often approached them during free or arrangement periods — especially my Chemistry teacher, who helped me a lot whenever I got stuck,” she said.
