Dance helps students stay active, express themselves creatively, and build confidence. It improves focus, discipline, and teamwork while reducing stress. By connecting with culture and emotions, dance supports overall growth and adds joy to learning. Meet two such students — Sia Arora and Ananya R of Class VIII-A at Apeejay School, Saket.
Sia, a 12-year-old, shared that dance is her hobby. “I’ve always enjoyed moving to music, but ever since the lockdown, I’ve become even more passionate about it. That’s when I got into Korean songs and their pop dance style, it just captivated me completely,” she said.
Western dance is something she genuinely enjoys, and over time, it has taught her so much. “It’s helped me learn patience, boosted my confidence, and made me understand the importance of hard work and perseverance. I’m grateful for the way my school supports my love for dance. From zonal competitions to annual day performances, there have been so many opportunities,” she shared and added that K-pop dance performances stand out to her.

Ananya, who hails from Tamil Nadu, has a deep love for dancing and singing. “Dance has always inspired me with its energy and expression. My interest was sparked at a young age while watching classical dance performances. I’ve been practising dance since I was five years old, and over time, it has taught me discipline and consistency. More importantly, it has helped me express myself and boosted my confidence,” she said, and hopes that the school continues to support her by giving her opportunities to perform during annual functions and cultural events.
“I have learnt Bharatanatyam, a dance form that blends rhythm, expressions, and storytelling, deeply connecting me to my culture and traditions,” she shared.
