Students showcase talent and national spirit at Independence Day Celebration

The celebrations at Apeejay Stya University, Gurugram reflect the values of unity, commitment, and national pride

Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram celebrated the 79th Independence Day with immense enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at its campus, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a spirited tribute to the nation. The celebrations reflected the values of unity, commitment, and national pride that the University consistently strives to instil in its community.

The programme began with the hoisting of the national flag by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Vijay Vir Singh, followed by the collective singing of the National Anthem, which echoed across the campus and set the tone for the day.

In his inspiring address, Prof. Singh called upon the students to recognise their pivotal role as the torchbearers of the country’s future. He urged them to contribute meaningfully to the Viksit Bharat movement, reminding the gathering that every small step taken by the youth contributes towards building a strong, self-reliant, and progressive India. His words motivated students to take pride in their responsibilities and actively participate in nation-building initiatives.

The celebration was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances presented by students from various schools of the University. Their contributions beautifully captured the spirit of patriotism and showcased their creativity and talent. Drishti (SOET), Muskan (SOE), and Kehi (SJMC) recited soulful poems that evoked pride and reverence for the nation. Samba (SOET) delivered a thought-provoking speech on the responsibilities of youth in shaping the nation’s destiny, while Diya (SJMC) filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervour through her melodious song. The energy soared as Laxmi (SOET) presented a spirited dance performance, which drew much applause from the audience.

The event was anchored seamlessly by Kajal (SJMC), whose enthusiasm and confident presentation kept the audience engaged throughout.

Towards the conclusion of the event, Dr. Pardep Kumar, Registrar of the University delivered the Vote of Thanks. He expressed deep appreciation for the students, faculty members, and staff whose hard work and dedication made the celebration both memorable and meaningful. He also acknowledged the meticulous coordination of Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Sonam Raheja, and Dr. Mahesh Sharma, who played a key role in ensuring the programme’s success, with the support of Prof. Sanjay Ahirwal, Dean, Student Welfare (DSW) as the programme owners.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr Vijay Kumar expressed, “Our independence, earned through countless sacrifices, is an invaluable gift from our forefathers. It is now our sacred duty to safeguard it at any cost.” 

The celebration concluded with a sense of pride, unity, and renewed commitment to contribute towards the nation’s growth and progress. To mark the joyous occasion, sweets were distributed among all attendees, spreading happiness and reinforcing the spirit of togetherness.

The 79th Independence Day celebrations at Apeejay Stya University stood as a powerful reminder of India’s glorious past, vibrant present, and promising future—encouraging students to embody the values of patriotism, service, and responsibility in their journey ahead.
